Thank You Veterans

Veterans Day is set aside to remember all those who served in our armed forces during times of war and peace. On this Veterans Day, I hope you will join me in saluting our Veterans and extend our gratitude for their service. All of us have someone in our families who is a veteran. For many, like myself, it was my father. Veterans are all around us. They are our relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers. “These individuals committed to a cause larger than their own and accepted the challenge … [Read more...]

When Life Pulls You Away from God

This morning I was reading in a devotional book I have. I’d like to share some thoughts that surfaced from that devotion. Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength…. And love your neighbor as yourself. Do we truly live our lives by this Golden Rule? As I was talking with someone just yesterday she mentioned that her mom used to say the biggest time Christians lie is on Sundays when they sing in worship. … [Read more...]

Re-boot with God’s Word

I don’t know about you, but I have moments when I become overwhelmed with the daily routine, deadlines and the "stuff" of living. One of those "RE-focus" moments recently was when I began to meditate on a familiar passage and found rich pearls of wisdom and … [Read more...]

Submit and Win the Battle

I was inspired and challenged by the movie WAR ROOM that the church family recently went to see. The movie was a reminder that we need to be firmly rooted in God's Word to stand against Satan's attacks, and victory is ours only when we SUBMIT to God's authority. Bro. Rick has started a series of sermons based upon Galatians 2:20. I think this verse is so pertinent at this time as a reminder to believers what the walk of faith is all about. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer … [Read more...]

Serving God: What is Your Motivation?

While thinking through some aspects of worship recently I went back to a book I've been reading off and on for a few months: All In, by: Mark Batterson. Chapter 12 has some interesting points when speaking about how all we do should give glory to God. He relates about J.S. BACH; (famous church musician/composer from the early 19th century) Bach was to classical music what William Shakespeare was to English literature. Batterson relates: Listening to Bach's music is a rapturous experience, … [Read more...]
